This series is dubbed Wellness because we are going to sink deep (like a well) into issues that make us feel and become unwell, draw out the root cause, destroy those roots, replant and grow up well, another keyword which simply means healthy.

From the previous blogs we have discussed two indicators (or signs) of a soul living in wellness:

1. Health is knowing what your real needs are and how to get them met.

2. Health is knowing how to create and cultivate close relationships with yourself and with others.

Today we shall tackle: Health is responding to challenges in life as opportunities to grow in strength (faith) and maturity, rather than feeling like a ‘victim’ beset by “problems” 1.

We are all experiencing the weighty worldly pressure with its pull to conform to its definitions of what it means to be “beautiful” and “successful” so much so that right now, the warfare for the soul of man is stretching the soul in a turbulent tug-of-war with the gospel reaching out to draw all souls eternally to God through belief or faith in Christ Jesus against the temptations of the devil luring souls to temporarily feel good in the body or flesh (in carnality) through lust for material gain and social popularity or influence.

Beauty, by worldly definitions, focuses on the appearance of a man or woman and ignores the inner character—the soul or heart—the real person.  This influence causes people to pretend or be fake about who they truly are as they choose to live in a world of lies denying the truth; and the results are devastating with all the cutting, implanting, bleaching, tattooing; in other words, dismantling the true beauty of how God, your Father, created you and formed your inner parts in your mother’s womb and in His image (Psalm 139:13; Genesis 1:26a; 1:27).

But the Lord, God our Father said . . . “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him.  For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7). The real you, the beautiful you, cannot be cut, implanted, bleached, or dismantled.  It can only be lost as a result of turning away from the Truth: Jesus said . . . “I am the way, the truth, and the life; and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 14:6a; 8:32).  Jesus makes it clear that you shall know the truth.  Your soul knows the truth about your Creator just as a newborn baby knows who his or her parents are.  When you embrace and live the truth, you are set free from the bondage, the snare, of devilish lies; and can thrive in the promises of God your Father.

Success, by worldly definitions, is measured by how much of everything you can acquire on earth rooted in the lust for gaining by any means good or bad, or counterfeiting, as much money to buy those ‘everythings.’  This can also include the numbers of “likes” or “followers” one accumulates socially so that success is also seen as how much of an “influencer” a person is. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul and is himself destroyed or lost? (Matthew 16:26; Luke 9:25).  The pursuit and acquisition of money and influence give a temporary false sense of security that almost always leads to regret and sorrow at end of a person’s lifetime.  Tragically, these pursuits lead to premature death and, ultimately, the death of one’s soul.

The blessing of the Lord God, our Father, makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it (Proverbs 10:22).  When you realize that success is living out your special purpose for why God meticulously created you, and you do it, you become and acquire the everlasting abundance—the blessing--of God on earth as it was intended for you from heaven where God your Father dwells.  That blessing includes growing in spiritual strength until you reach maturity to conquer all worldly influence as an overcomer reflecting the beauty of holiness and acquiring the abundance of godly treasure (Matthew 6:21).

Beauty and success were never meant to cause harm to man or for man to cause harm to himself trying to possess these because, in the beginning, God our Father had already given both of these gifts in our divine created being of spirit-soul-body. He put beauty and success inside us from the start of life on earth, but that old devil, in his blood thirst to destroy the greatest creation of God—mankind—has twisted the true meaning of living in God’s Promised Land.

When the ten Israelite spies were sent to the Promised Land to check out the people whom they were charged to conquer, eight came back to report how they themselves appeared like ‘grasshoppers’ in their own sight and in the sight of the Anakite ‘giants’ (Numbers 13:32-33).  THESE SPIES EXCHANGED THEIR BEAUTY IN STRENGTH TO CONQUER BY TRUTH FOR FEAR BECOMING POWERLESS VICTIMS OF A LIE.

Yet, the other two of the spies boldly stood firm in faith and affirmed, Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it (Numbers 13:30).

Joshua and Caleb had strong faith in what God can do and later received His blessing.

Not all of us have the gumption to grab the proverbial ‘bull’ by the horns.  Eighty percent of the Israelite spies were gripped by fear—that crippling tool of Satan to stop the progress of anyone who has a dream of living in a land flowing with milk and honey with fruit so succulent and abundant.  That ‘land’ is your soul.  That ‘fruit’ is your wellness.  What makes you afraid of accepting the promises of God, dear Christian?

He promises you good success in Joshua 1. He promises you perfect security and long life in Psalm 91.  He promises you healing, peace, and abundance in Isaiah 53-55.  And He confirms those promises again in the New Testament with the shedding of Jesus’ blood on Calvary.  What more evidence do you need to believe that God loves you and that His thoughts are only focused on providing the best for you? (Jeremiah 29:11)  Live your dream, your life’s purpose now. Yes, in the midst of all the worldly chaos, dare to take possession of your beauty and your purpose, your success.

YOU ARE THE VICTOR, NOT THE VICTIM!

No matter where you’ve come from, what you’ve done, or who you think you are in sight of yourself or others, our Heavenly Father, God sees you as a marvelous creation in His image!  Any good Father wants the best for His children.  You are saved, therefore, made right with God, Our Father, and He yearns to perfect everything in your life (Psalm 138:8).  But you must have the faith, the belief that, once you put your trust in Him, HE + me—we—are well able to overcome any problem.

Are you willing to let go, and let God move in your life-situation or struggles right now?  You are not alone. You are not a victim.  God listens and hears the prayers of His children (Revelation 5:8b).  Get on your knees, stretch out on the floor, clap, shout, sing, do whatever you do to call on the name of the Lord in prayer; and, in supplication, tell God what you desire to happen right now!

When we talk with God, do we not close our eyes?  We do that so that we stop subjugating our souls to our own sight and to the sight of others.  When we close our eyes in prayer, we release our trust in our Father to look at us with His eyes; and you are the apple of His eye (Zechariah 2:8b).

Problems and challenges, the ‘giants’, will come.  See these challenges as opportunities to grow strong in faith and in maturity fully experiencing that God, your Father, is with you when you draw closer to Him (John 16:33; James 4:7-8).  He will lead you to know what you need and how to get those needs met. You can create and cultivate close positive relationships with yourself and others.  And you can overcome the challenges of the world by strengthening your faith, and responding to ‘giants’ with prayer power!

"Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart" (Jeremiah 29:12-13).

My Father + me—we—are well able to overcome it!

IF YOU HAVE NOT FULLY SURRENDERED TO CHRIST JESUS, SIMPLY SPEAK OUT LOUD:

Dear Jesus, I know that I’m a sinner. I’ve made bad choices; and keep making bad choices. I am sorry and ask for the forgiveness that You freely offer. I believe that you died on the cross to pay for my sin, but that You rose again on the third day proving your power to conquer the grave and erase all my sin. Give me the gift of Your Holy Spirit, and help me to live my life according to Your way so that I may look forward to a future filled with hope and eternal life with You. Amen
