Christmas is a time of year when smiles are on the faces of children from 1 to 100+ years in anticipation of celebrating the most wonderful birthday ever.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS! Songs splash the airwaves with jolly laughter and good cheer. Family and friends gather to exchange gifts and express happy holiday love. And even the poor and needy are met with the richness of this special season as they are keenly remembered throughout this glorious time of giving.  At Christmastime humanity becomes wise working in the will of Jesus' Father, and ours, God Almighty.

What most humanity has forgotten, or perhaps intentionally ignores, is the true Spirit of Christmas.  Prophecy is knowledge of the future or a prediction uttered under divine (godly) inspiration about what is going to happen sometime from now in future.  A real prophecy comes true when its fulfillment is evidenced by we, the people to whom the prophecy is given. Today, with so many false prophecies fluttering fast in front of us, it is deeply important for us to take time together to study the prophecies about the coming of Jesus Christ up to Christmas Day.

The Light In Me Enterprise, a publishing house specializing in teaching-learning materials for the home, school, and church, has embarked on a journey with author Patience Osei-Anyamesem in a “Real Talk” series entitled Christmas Cantata Collection.  Throughout this Cantata Collection, we, the people of Jesus, are going to confirm the evidence that it was God's plan that Christ Jesus, from heaven, be born; that He was actually born of a virgin woman; and that His birth carried with it a special redemptive plan—salvation—for humanity; thereby identifying the fulfillment of the true Spirit of Christmas

There are 10 lessons in this collection; and as there are many prophecies concerning the life of Jesus, some lessons have fused a few of them as one; yet, by no means have any of the prophecies been omitted.  All have been infused into this collection for all of us to Praise God for Christmas!

Cantata is a musical composition for voices and orchestra (an ensemble or collection of different instruments playing music in perfect harmony) based on a religious text, or Biblical scripture.  So, throughout this series, lyrics to Christmas songs will be added for your singing pleasure.

PROPHECY: SEED OF A WOMAN

Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.”

FULFILLMENT

Galatians 4:4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law.

Time is a gift we—all over the world—have been given.  Over time, things change.  Some things grow.  Some things die.  And other things refuse change and stay the same.  A prophecy of God is uttered (spoken) at one point in time and at another point, in future time, it comes true.  We know that prophecy comes true because we see the evidence of it—what God said would happen, has happened, or is now currently happening.

After Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, God met them in the Garden of Eden; and sensing the look of guilt on their faces and looking at the leaves they used to cover their shame, He felt compassion as He sent them out of the Garden of Eden with the first Biblical “Promise of Salvation” uttered (spoken) in Genesis 3:15 (read above). This promise is also known (in the Greek language) as protoevangelium: proto means “first” and evangelium means “good news” or “gospel”.  Thus, here we find evidence of God's plan of redemption (salvation) for humanity from the moment in time that Adam and Eve sinned (disobeyed God).

Sin came into the world when Satan came into the world.  Enmity means strife, battle, fight or war.  This war would be between Satan with his host of an antagonistic army of angry angels (seeds) called demons and the Seed of the woman who is Jesus Christ with His army of angels in heaven and with the true believers on earth.

Isn't it true today?  The battle rages on between Jesus and His followers in righteousness and Satan and his forces in evil darkness.  It was spoken by God that the devil would bruise (bite) the heel of Jesus.  The heel is the back part of the foot below the ankle.  This part of the body was referred to many times throughout the Bible (Genesis 25:26; 27:36; 49:17; Hosea 12:3, etc.) in a figurative way meaning that if the heel was injured in any way, it would hinder; or retard (make things very hard) the progress of the person to succeed.  So, this means that anyone who believes in Jesus will meet attacks on their lives as Christians.  Attacks are the problems we face, the challenges we meet, the obstacles we often climb as we travel on the narrow way to heaven (Matthew 7:13-14).

But at the fullness of the time (when the time was right), Jesus—the Seed of the Holy Spirit and of a woman—would be born under the law of Moses.  Later, at Eastertime, Satan would bruise Jesus' heel through crucifixion (being nailed to the cross).  But later Jesus would bruise (crush, destroy) the head of that snake, Satan.  What is the best way to kill a snake?  Is it not to crush its head?  Jesus did just that on that same cross.  Though He died (Satan bruising His heel); in three days, Jesus rose up!

Jesus' resurrection was the final crushing blow to Satan's head transferring to us Christians His resurrection power and authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and Jesus confirms in Luke 10:19 that nothing shall by any means hurt you again as long as you remain connected to His source of power. Attacks that come you shall overcome by Jesus’ authority and power working in you!

Genesis 3:15 was God's way of making human beings right with Him again after Adam's mistake.  If Jesus had not been born, then Genesis 3:15 would be a lie, a false prophecy; and there would be no salvation for sinners—only eternal hellfire.  But God is not a liar.  He is the Father of Truth, and so are His words and His prophecy that Jesus would be the Seed of a woman.  What joy it is to receive this GOOD NEWS!
