Promised Gift Foundation (PGF) was registered as a charity (not-for-profit) organization in the year 2022 which materialized the a dream envisioned by its Founder and Chief Executive Director to reach out to children and teens in the rural villages who are at a disadvantage to quality educational resources, and to give them the training necessary to improve the quality, or welfare, of their lives. As a seasoned educator, her passion is to nurture the literacy skills of young people beginning at early childhood, or nursery school learners.
She envisioned working with Mentor-Teachers—the parents, school teachers, and community elders to meet the instructional needs of all children, but especially in rural communities. Promised Gift Foundation currently operates in a rural village, approximately 60 km from the metropolis of Kumasi, Ghana, West Africa, has its regional office in Kumasi, the capital city of the Ashanti Region (one of Ghana’s total of sixteen regions), and serves more than 100 young people both in its rural community and in its city environ where children live as squatters under highway bridges in make-shift housing units.
Our mission is to share our love, compassion, and instructional strategies with institutional partners, parents, teachers, community elders and other concerned individuals on training up children and teens to live victorious lives by improving their welfare wholistically.
PGF focusses on the wholistic development of young people though senior high school. We are acutely aware of the unique educational and social challenges that children and adolescents face on a daily basis and are committed to adapting our organization to train them up and to improve their welfare through our seven-fold project objectives:
1. READING IS FOR ME LITERACY PROMO: To challenge children and teens to read at least
four (4) books per month (one per week) through our I-D-E-A-L Teach Me English! Literacy
campaign.
2. LIGHT IN ME PRODUCTIONS: To showcase the artistic potential of young people through
performing and visual arts.
3. I HAVE A DREAM: To develop the public speaking and speech delivery skills in young
people building their confidence to effectively communicate their physical, emotional-mental,
and social needs and to get them met.
4, PGF SCHOLARSHIP FUND: To invest in the academic excellence of young people opening
doors of opportunity to completing quality education.
5. CAMP BLESSING RETREATS: To piece together the broken lives of children, especially
adolescents, with camp activities including “real talk” discussions about reproductive health,
dealing with peer pressure and trauma, and finding their life’s purpose.
6. OPERATION SERVE OUR NATION: Partnering with other charitable organizations and
Individuals--To put into the hands of children and teens (in rural villages, hospitals,
orphanages, and on city streets and squatter communities) provisions for healthy living.
7. ONLINE ACADEMY FOR MENTOR-TEACHERS: To develop the professional teaching and
instructing skills of the adults who influence the lives of the children we reach.
For learners whose first or second language is not English, it has truly stretched our creativity in how get phonemes, syllabication, and comprehension into their cognitive structures and, eventually, produce fluent readers, writers, and speakers of English.
Our publications make learning fun and functional. This instructional aide helps learners to phonetically identify and read the most essential six letters of the English language.
After mastering the phonetic key of vowels, the rest of foundational English can commence for construction! We construct with games. Each Vowel Vim! Beginner's Reading book comes with two game boards for a great reading and spelling bee quiz challenge that builds on positive education!
